HelioIndex - Revision History

This page records significant changes to HelioIndex and when they occurred.

8-Sep-2025

A major change to how keywords are processed. Previously a HelioIndex author was required to have at least 15% of their journal keywords contain the words solar, sun or interplanetary. This check is retained, but applied to articles published in the last 8 years rather than the entire set of articles. However, if an author has less than 20 keywords in the last 8 years, then the check is applied to all of their articles. This change allows an author who spent a significant amount of their career in a different field, but then moved to solar and heliospheric physics to be included in HelioIndex. This change resulted in a big jump in the number of HelioIndex authors, from 2139 to 2295.

1-Jul-2025

For authors already in HelioIndex, I now take the last two years' of articles and extract the ORCID iDs of all authors. Any iDs that were not already in my masterlist are added to it. This helps find additional authors, supplementing the existing methods.

I added the Featured Authors section to the title page.

All keywords for articles in the journal Solar Physics were modified by inserting "sun:" in front of the keyword. This is because the Solar Physics keyword list essentially assumes that all keywords refer to the Sun. Thus, the keyword "photosphere" clearly implies the solar photosphere since the article is in Solar Physics, but if the article was in ApJ (for example) the keyword could refer to a stellar photosphere. There was a big jump in HelioIndex authors following this change, from 1921 to 2068.

The HelioIndex webpage went live for the first time.
